about me

I am a teenage writer - for a little longer, anyway - poking around with words. Christian girl, and I was completely homeschooled. I'm Jem Jones online: here, Pinterest, NaNoWriMo, and Camp NaNo (I would love to connect with you on the NaNo websites! Add me as a buddy! Go on!).

I love reading and I'm a new geek convert. (LotR + Hobbit, Avengers + AoS + any comics with WinterWidow, Flash + Legends + any comics with Robins, Narnia, Sherlock, Doctor Who, I'll squee along with you even though I'm not up to date with ANY of the TV series. The result of not having a TV, I guess.) New to this bullet journaling thing. *sweats because everyone else has gorgeous bullet journals*. I hate signs with incorrect apostrophes and I can wiggle my ears.

(I've got no idea what else you need to know about me. Feel free to ask! And comment on old posts if you like; I'll read it! Comment on all the posts!)

Anyhow: pleased to meet you! And I'm super-excited you took the trouble to come over and read this page.

(And the owl? Owlet?? He's just here because he's cute. Curious. Quirky.)
(Possibly also because he's one of the few pieces of art I would ever allow out of my folder in the bottom drawer. But I refuse to confirm this.)

  1. Hey, saw you on Go Teen Writers and I'm commenting just to comment. :) You're an artist too? Cool! You going to tackle a Christian graphic novel? :)

    1. Hey Hannah! Thanks for dropping in and commenting. :) Artist? *nervous chuckle* A Christian graphic novel would be cool... but I think I'm the wrong person xD (I have considered teaming up with an artist friend to do picture-books or something, though.)

    3. Hi Evan! I'd rather not say specifically because of 'internet goblins'. *looks around furtively* But I'm not too many years away from 19!

    1. Aww, thanks, Gray! Now you say so, it does look like coffee... but it's actually felt pens. And water. (Don't tell anyone, but it's really easy??) ;)

  3. Wiggling your ears is an amazing talent. Seriously. Also, congrats on your new geekhood conversion! I remember when I crossed over to the dark side a whole seven-ish years ago. One of the coolest times of my life stepping into this whole new world of stories.
Nice to meet you, lovely blog as well! :D

  4. I know, right? It's come in handy on so many quests. xD

What was responsible for your conversion to 'the dark side'? For myself, I can put the blame pretty squarely on Pinterest: I use it for a writing tool, but so many of the other young writers were also fangirls, so I checked some of their boards out... Reading (then watching) all things Middle Earth was the first step (after seeing all the pictures and quotes - both real and fan-made - how could I not??), and Sherlock followed. Things just escalated from there. Not sure if that's a good thing or not??

    Thanks, Emily, you too!

    1. Pinterest? Really? That's interesting. I don't think Pinterest was really a thing way back when I became a nerd. :P At least it wasn't a thing I was interested in. I love it now though!
My conversion was started in my childhood with The Chronicles of Narnia and when I turned thirteen was pushed very far along by Lord of the Rings and after that it kind of spiraled downward. XD

  5. I'm a homeschool graduate, too! And from a distance, the owl looked like cookies. This is why I'm supposed to wear glasses when looking at a computer. Also, another rebellious writer? Awesome!
    :)

    1. *homeschooler high-five* Oh, yeah, I have to wear glasses when on the computer too. (Otherwise I hunch over and my nose gets closer and closer to the screen ;) And as a Christian and a teen and a writer, it just made sense for me to join #RebelliousWriting! :D

    2. Let's pretend I'm replying on time and not like a month later. *laughs nervously*
Sorry about that. I comment on so many blogs that I lose track.
      *Glasses high five*
      God bless you!

    4. I've lost count of how many I follow because there are just so many awesome people out there. I had forgotten I ever commented on here, so when I came here and saw my comment and the date I mentally kicked myself for not replying, lol. XD

Comment away! I read all comments - no matter how old the post may be! - and I'll try to reply. Just keep your words appropriate so I won't have to delete your comment (I'd hate to have to do that).
