• about me •

My name is not, in fact, Jem Jones.

But INTERNET GOBLINS and I know it's a bit hypocritical to worry that other people aren't who they say they are when I'M NOT EITHER... but my mother worries. So Jem Jones it is.

I am a writer poking around with words. Christian, young adult (getting older), and I was completely homeschooled. I use the name Jem Jones for almost all my online activity, such as Pinterest and NaNoWriMo

I love reading and I'm a casual fan of a lot of things. (Or not so casual, depending on the things in question.) (LotR + Hobbit; Narnia; Avengers + any comics with WinterWidow; any comics with Robins and the Batfam; Jane Austen; Sherlock; Doctor Who; I'll squee along with you even though I'm not up to date with ANY of the TV series. The result of not having a TV, I guess.) I absolutely definitely do not read fanfiction. Nope, no siree.

I hate signs with incorrect apostrophes, I approve of the Oxford Comma, and I can wiggle my ears.

And to those of you who are new, I want to say:

...

I use way too many gifs.

No, actually, I meant to say welcome and I'm glad to have you here.

But I do use way too many gifs.

  1. Hey, saw you on Go Teen Writers and I'm commenting just to comment. :) You're an artist too? Cool! You going to tackle a Christian graphic novel? :)

    1. Hey Hannah! Thanks for dropping in and commenting. :) Artist? *nervous chuckle* A Christian graphic novel would be cool... but I think I'm the wrong person xD (I have considered teaming up with an artist friend to do picture-books or something, though.)

    3. Hi Evan! I'd rather not say specifically because of 'internet goblins'. *looks around furtively* But I'm not too many years away from 19!

    1. Aww, thanks, Gray! Now you say so, it does look like coffee... but it's actually felt pens. And water. (Don't tell anyone, but it's really easy??) ;)

  3. Wiggling your ears is an amazing talent. Seriously. Also, congrats on your new geekhood conversion! I remember when I crossed over to the dark side a whole seven-ish years ago. One of the coolest times of my life stepping into this whole new world of stories.
Nice to meet you, lovely blog as well! :D

  4. I know, right? It's come in handy on so many quests. xD

What was responsible for your conversion to 'the dark side'? For myself, I can put the blame pretty squarely on Pinterest: I use it for a writing tool, but so many of the other young writers were also fangirls, so I checked some of their boards out... Reading (then watching) all things Middle Earth was the first step (after seeing all the pictures and quotes - both real and fan-made - how could I not??), and Sherlock followed. Things just escalated from there. Not sure if that's a good thing or not??

    Thanks, Emily, you too!

    1. Pinterest? Really? That's interesting. I don't think Pinterest was really a thing way back when I became a nerd. :P At least it wasn't a thing I was interested in. I love it now though!
My conversion was started in my childhood with The Chronicles of Narnia and when I turned thirteen was pushed very far along by Lord of the Rings and after that it kind of spiraled downward. XD

  5. I'm a homeschool graduate, too! And from a distance, the owl looked like cookies. This is why I'm supposed to wear glasses when looking at a computer. Also, another rebellious writer? Awesome!
    :)

    1. *homeschooler high-five* Oh, yeah, I have to wear glasses when on the computer too. (Otherwise I hunch over and my nose gets closer and closer to the screen ;) And as a Christian and a teen and a writer, it just made sense for me to join #RebelliousWriting! :D

    4. I've lost count of how many I follow because there are just so many awesome people out there. I had forgotten I ever commented on here, so when I came here and saw my comment and the date I mentally kicked myself for not replying, lol. XD

  6. Hello Jem! I've seen you around the blogsphere and decided to check you out. I'm glad I did, because your blog is really cool and you sound like an awesome person! I am a Christian homeschooled teenage girl.
Its great to "meet" you! Have you ever taken a test to find out your personality type? I am an INFP. :)

    1. Hi Kendra, and thank you for your kind words :D It's great to 'meet' you too, fellow Christian homeschooled teenager! (I've graduated, but I'll always be a homeschooler in my heart ;) Ooh, I'm an INFJ (although I'm not sure about the accuracy, because 'introvert' was the only one that wasn't just a bit to one side or the other of 50%)

    2. I was mistyped as an INFJ once. :)
Its believed that J.R.R. Tolkien was an INFP and C.S. Lewis was an INFJ; which is interesting and pretty cool. Tolkien is my favorite writer. The LotR is the BEST. I <3 it. :)
Here's the link to my blog; in case you'd like to check it out: https://talesfromanidelaist.wordpress.com its private, but I allow a select few to read it and it would be great if you wanted to be one of them. When you go to the link you can request an invitation and I will be sure to grant it.

    5. (Ah, you're on Wordpress - trying to cross between platforms can be annoying! I can get comment notifications on Wordpress - had to make an account, though - but that's tricky if you can't get notifications on Blogspot! Never mind; whenever you respond, it's a nice surprise. :)

You steal cookies?? NO *gasps* I WOULD NEVER HAVE THOUGHT IT OF YOU, KENZIE. The Doctor would be ashamed. (Actually he'd probably join you. Don't follow his example. He's a bad influence.)
